Germany international Kai Havertz is a man in demand ahead of the next transfer window opening for business.

The 21-year-old attacking-midfielder, who has shown tremendous signs of maturity for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga this season, is being heavily linked with a move away from the Bay Arena ahead of the summer transfer window opening for business.

Havertz has been heavily linked with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in recent months, with all four clubs keen on the idea of adding one of Europe’s most highly-rated talents to their respective armoury.

For Chelsea, of course, they are already well underway in putting plans in place ahead of next season, with the Blues having already wrapped up deals for Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

Despite having splashed out more than £80million on luring Ziyech and Werner to Stamford Bridge already, the Blues are showing no signs of slowing down in their recruitment drive, with Frank Lampard, who will take his side to the London Stadium to face West Ham United on Wednesday evening, keen on adding both Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell and Havertz to his squad.

Should Chelsea win the race for Havertz, who has netted 16 goals this season, there could be a tinge of jealousy from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who recently described his fellow countryman as a “great player.”

“There are a lot of good players on this planet,” Klopp told Sky Germany in early-June. “Timo Werner is a great player, Kai Havertz is a great player.

“Right time, opportunity – everything has to come together. Six, seven weeks ago, we didn’t know if we could play again this year. If we hadn’t played the second half of the season, we would have thought, ‘OK, when can you really play football again?’ And now it starts right away.

“We act as if everything is already settled. It’s not settled. We use this little loophole we’ve been left to play football again. Everything else we have to see the moment it happens. We can’t pretend now that everything’s going to be fine in the future.”

Klopp is not the only high-profile person in the world of football to have recently been in awe of Havertz’s talents, with Germany and Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller, who would no doubt love to see his international teammate link up with him at the Allianz Arena, having also been full of praise for the midfielder.

“In my last few years with the national team, I still enjoyed to train and play with him, “Muller told Sky Sports Austria. “Kai Havertz is an extremely good player. If not, at that age, a top talent in Europe. He has such good skills and of course we at Bayern always want to have the players with the best skills.”

On the prospect of Muller being joined by Havertz at Bayern, the versatile attacker added: “I have no insight into the financial area of Mr. Dreesen and the sports director area. I don’t know now what is planned.”
